At Starling, good food and good company are only part of the story. We also care deeply about the place we call home.

Harrogate is a special town and we believe businesses should play their part in looking after it. That’s why sustainability and community sit right at the heart of everything we do.

We’re always looking at how we work and asking ourselves a simple question: how can we do this better? Whether that’s reducing waste, making greener choices or supporting the people and businesses around us, we’re constantly reviewing what we do to lower our impact on the environment and create something positive for our community.

One thing we’re particularly proud of is that nothing from Starling goes to landfill. All of our food waste is turned into biofuel. We’re also very conscious of using local suppliers that share our green ethos.

None of this happens by chance. It’s something we’ve built into the way we run the business. It takes planning, commitment and a brilliant team who care about doing things properly.

Being greener isn’t just about what happens in our kitchen. It’s also about the community around us. We love getting involved in local initiatives that help make Harrogate an even better place to live, work and visit, supporting charities, taking part in community events and working alongside other local organisations.

We also encourage our customers to think about greener ways to travel to Starling. Walking, cycling, sharing lifts or using public transport are all small choices that can make a big difference. Plus, it means you get to enjoy more of Harrogate along the way.

A healthy community isn’t just about the environment, we’re passionate about promoting positive mental health too. Starling is designed to be a place where people can relax, connect and feel welcome.

Sustainability is something we care about deeply and something we’ll keep improving as we grow. Ideas and suggestions are always welcome.
